I was, first, introduced to yin / yang philosophy, in 1968, through the writings of Kahlil Gibran. It wasn't until 1971 that I began studying in earnest, while completing my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Miami of Ohio. In a World Religions course, I discovered Huston Smith’s wonderful book, The Religions of Man.

Though it limited yin / yang philosophy to the pages on Taoism, the book illuminated many ideas and practices that are universal; common to all major belief systems. And I begin to realize that the concept of yin & yang is universal, as well.

My appreciation of yin / yang theory grew. Seeing that all things were interconnected, in fact are One. From the entire universe, to a single grain of sand. That we can never truly be separated from Our Creator.

For many years, I believed that this philosophy could be observed and appreciated, but never used as a tool. For example, if I was sad, I was comforted by the fact that I would, one day, be happy. But, I had little capacity to make the time of happiness come sooner. If I was easily chilled by the winter winds, I could take heart that spring would finally come. But, for the present, I must shiver.

Then, in 1985, a friend gave me a book on macrobiotics. Here was a way to categorize food, health and happiness in terms of yin & yang! I was thrilled, but skeptical. The book claimed that you could adjust your own metabolism, to become warmer in winter, more peaceful in stressful conditions. To live longer! To be happier!

I decided to test the diet for two weeks. I never stopped..........

Since that time, I have learned that yin & yang are not just observable conditions. It is a valuable tool that can be applied to any aspect of our lives. And there are other sub-sets of this tool, like the 5 states of energy, that can be used to achieve practical and potent results.

The understanding of healing foods, tonic herbs, facial diagnosis, Feng Shui and 9 Star Ki are all but steps in this infinite, unified process.

But, so few people know! What an incredible difference it would make, if everyone realized how to utilize this tool. Unfortunately, most have never even heard of its existence.

What else could I do? No one puts a basket over a lamp. Hence, these webpages were born.
